Some basic information about scale in Blender and moving files from Rhino 3D to Blender.

Quick facts

Rhino template:

"Large Objects - Millimeters"

Blender units:

Metric, Default clip 1km

1mm in Rhino = 1m in Blender

Export from Rhino

From Rhino you will need to export your model as a 3D Studio (3ds) file.

Setup Blender Scene

In Blender go to the Scene properties and under Units select Metric.

01

Blender Import

Go to:

File > import > 3D Studio (.3ds)

and select the file that you exported from Rhino.

Now your model should be to scale in Blender.

Large models and Camera Clip

Blender's Default clip is 1km. If your model is too large to fit within this clip you may want to further scale down your model.

In the Scene Units preferences, set a scale so that your model will fit within the clip. Then go to the object tools and scale the model by that amount.
